Blackheads, Begone!

You Don’t Know Me At All…
Blackheads. Another aggravating type of acne, right? Wrong. (Well, right about the aggravating part!)
Most people mistakenly think that blackheads are related to acne, but this is simply not true. Acne is strictly a bacterial issue. While blackheads can become infected/inflamed with bacteria, they do not begin as a bacteria issue. They have everything to do with your skin not functioning properly.
Skin has several layers, going from newest cells below, to old/dead cells on top. Its natural process is to push the newer cells to the …LINK

Meke up tips for Teens

teen-make-up-tipsAs a teenager, you spend a lot of time trying out and wearing different types of make-up. Look for allergy-free or non-allergenic products.

Cover up your blemishes and highlight your face with strictly oil-free foundations. These products are usually gels designed for oily skin. They contain alcohol, or witch hazel to assist in drying the skin. Stay away from water-based products as most contain oil that helps the product stay on the skin. Opt instead for oil-free products that contain salicylic acid or tea tree oil to aid in acne treatment.

Cream-based blushers, eye make-up and shimmer liquids are very oily and may add to your skin problem. Oil-free powders are the way to go. Mascara comes in all different types depending on what you want, but remember, longer-lasting varieties require eye make-up removers which are generally oil-based. Try using a generalized, non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores) oil-free make-up remover to take off your make-up. Replace your mascara regularly, since bacteria builds up and application can lead to eye infections.

Lip glosses are tempting and come in a variety of shades. To make them shiny and soft, large amounts of oil are used. This can cause them to smear. Try outlining your lips with a pencil liner. It’ll keep the lipstick or gloss in place. For a longer lasting effect, try applying oil-free foundation to your lips and using a lip crayon. This will make your lipstick last for hours without having to re-apply.

Chapped lips and winter weather seem to go hand-in-hand. The dry seasonal air and indoor heating systems rob your lips of moisture. Natural lip balms are very popular. They have no petroleum, instead they contain beeswax and plant oils and come in fruit flavors. Some lip balms contain paba-free sunscreens for added protection. Don’t use your lip balm too often. Your lips will become dependent on it and will stop moisturizing themselves.

Bridal Make up Variations

This post is for all brides to be especially Stars N Rockets! I hope I have given you a wide range of looks for you to experiment with.

The natural look is being opted for by a lot of brides these days, where minimal is the key. “Use fresh flowers and natural elements in the hair, along with natural tones for blushing pink cheeks and lips. The colors for this trend would be pink, peach, lemon, light orange/apricot, and caramel,” advises ace make-up artist Clint Fernandes. Consult with your make up artist before deciding on a color palette though - it all depends on your complexion, after all! Retro Power:

“Vintage style is still big, be it the ’60s or the ’20s look. Hints of retro eyeliner, or lips and hair used as single elements in a style, look great. Adding modern elegance with a vintage feel,” enlightens Clint. This could include anything from the curling liner look to an elaborate up-do. You could also ask your make-up artist to use kohl and give you smoldering smoky eyes in keeping with this look as well.

“Gold is very big this season… use it on the eyes, dust it on the body and use gold ornamentation in the hair. Glitter too, is very big this season. Hints of glitter on the eyes along with frosted lips look great.”

desi-bridal-beauty-6Bright is Right:

Let me tell you that bright colors are really in, too. Indian women have recently started experimenting with their look. The use of pure glazed color like electric violet, fresh green, or aquamarine on the eyes and the emergence of orange tones in lipsticks just goes to prove my point and looks fabulous too! However, the colors chosen should depend on your clothing, jewelery and complexion - otherwise you might just end up looking like a cosmetic factory explosion!

Tips And lastly, some pointers from celebrity make up artist Doris Godambe…

  • For a perfect eye shape, use a small brush to blend a medium tone color from just below the brow arch downwards in a semi-circle motion.
  • Choose lip liner that blends easily with lipstick for that soft glossy look that looks good in photographs too.
  • Use a powder foundation on the neck as well so that you don’t appear to have a painted look.
  • Thin and small lips look more sensuous with light lip colors while fuller lips can use deep shades.

Oscar Fashion 2009: Best Supporting Actress Penelope Cruz in vintage Balmain

Penelope Cruz.jpgSeriously, what's cooler than Balmain? Vintage Balmain. Penelope Cruz had her eye on this vintage piece for eight years and finally decided now was the time to wear it. I can't help but fear that she stole some girl's wedding dress out from under her, but glamorous, glitzy white gowns are the trend of the 2009 Oscars. Cruz won the Best Supporting Actress award for Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
